1910 - Born on the 5th of January in Sandwich, Illinois. He is an actor best known for his role as "Mr. Green Jeans" on the children's television show "Captain Kangaroo".
- He attended Maine Township High School in suburban Chicago.
1940-1950 - He appeared on the radio as the bass player for Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians.
1951 - Prior to his time on "Captain Kangaroo" he hosted a local children's TV series called "Uncle Lumpy's Cabin", seen weekday mornings on WABC TV Ch.7 in New York City.
1955-1984 - On the radio and on 78-rpm records, he also told stories about "Little Orley," a farm kid. These stories led to him getting the role of Mr. Green Jeans.
1987 - Brannum died in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on the 19th of April.
