John Branch, Jr.(Branch John)
1782 - Born in Halifax County, North Carolina on the 14th of November.
1811-1817 - Served in the North Carolina Senate.
1817-1820 - He was the state's Governor.
1823-1829 - He represented North Carolina in the United States Senate and was a strong supporter of Andrew Jackson.
1831 - John Branch resigned as Secretary, during the Petticoat Affair scandal. He was elected in that year to the U.S. House of Representatives and later to North Carolina state political offices.
- He moved to Leon County, Florida, where he lived for much of the next decade and a half on his Live Oak Plantation.
1844-1845 - President John Tyler appointed him Florida's territorial governor until the election of a governor under the state constitution.
1850 - Branch returned to North Carolina.
1863 - Died on the 4th of January.
