1809 – He was born on the 4th day of January of this year in Coupvray, France.

 

1812 - He became blind by accident.

 

1819 - He got a scholarship to the Royal Institution for Blind Youth in Paris.

 

1824 - He began inventing his raised-dot system with his father's stitching awl, finishing.

 

1829 – He published a book, named "Method of Writing Words, Music and Plain Song by Means of Dots, for Use by the Blind and Arranged by Them".

 

1837 - He issued a second publication featuring an expanded system of coding text.

 

1852 - He died in Paris of tuberculosis on the 6th of January this year.
