1861 – Born on November 9th in Warrenton, North Carolina. American Confederate Democratic politician.

1833 – He studied law, admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Jackson, Northampton County, North Carolina.

1842 – He was a member of the State house of commons.

         – He became the prosecuting attorney for Northampton County.

1855 – Elected as the Governor of North Carolina.

1859 – Elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate.

1861 – He was expelled from the Senate for support of the rebellion.

         – Appointed Attorney General of the Confederate States on November 21st.

1872 – Died on January 21st in Raleigh, North Carolina.
