1945 – He was born in Valdosta, Georgia on the 6th of June.

         – He was educated at Florida State University, and served as an infantry officer in Vietnam with the United States Army.

         – Boyd was a fifth generation farmer from Monticello, Florida and a member of the Florida House of Representatives before entering the U.S. House.

1997 – He was a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, representing Florida’s 2nd congressional district.

2002 – On the  10th of October, Allen Boyd was among the 81 House Democrats who voted in favor of authorizing the invasion of Iraq.

2004 – He won reelection with 62% of the vote, even while John Kerry lost the district. Republicans will, however, very likely target Florida’s 2nd District when Boyd retires.

2005 – He was named by the Collegiate Veterans Organization as an "advocate" for veterans’ rights.

         – He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Quality of Life.
