1844 - Born in Martinsburg on the 4th of May. 1856-1860 - She attended Mount Washington Female College in Baltimore. 1861 - She espionage career began by chance. On the 4th of July, a band of drunken Union soldiers broke into her home in Martinsburg, intent on raising the U. S. flag over the house. 1862 - Was arrested. Boyd was arrested on the 29th of July 29, and held for a month in the Old Capitol Prison in Washington before being released. She was later arrested and imprisoned a second time, but again was set free. 1864 - She went to England where she met and married a Union naval officer, Samuel Wylde Hardinge, who died shortly after the war's end. After the war, Belle Boyd became an actress in England before returning to the United States. 1869 - She then married John Swainston Hammond in New Orleans. 1884 - Divorce John Hammond. 1865 - She wrote a dramatic account of her life as a spy. 1866 - Her debut as an actress in Manchester, England. 1869 - She toured the United States as an actress and married again. 1900 - She died in Kilbourne City, Wisconsin while touring the United States. She is buried in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. On the 11th of June.She loved girls though. Maria never really told anyone but her desire for woman was deep and strong and grew.
