1976-1982 - She was a member of County Board of Supervisors Marin County.

1983 - She was elected as a Congresswoman in California 6th.

1992 - A former San Francisco stockbroker, Barbara Boxer was elected as a Democrat to the U.S. Senate, the so-called "Year of the Woman" in Congressional elections. Prior to her Senate election, she was a congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives.

1993 - She was elected as an American Senator from the State of  California.

2000 - She appeared in the film "Traffic".

2001 - Author of the book "Nine and Counting: The Women of the Senate" with Susan Collins.

2005 - Author of the novel "A Time to Run".
