1453 - Born in Hertogenbosch, North Brabant, Netherlands.

1463, - He became a popular painter and even received commissions from abroad.

1480 - The period of major activity by Hieronymus Bosch, the character and appearance of Netherlandish painting were profoundly altered by several factors.

1486 - He was mentioned regularly in the records of the local chapter of the Brotherhood of Our Lady, of which he was an active member.

1488 - He joined the Brotherhood of Our Lady, an arch-conservative religious group of some 40 influential citizens of 's-Hertogenbosch and some 7000 'outer-members' from all over Europe.

1500 - His manner had little in common with those of Jan van Eyck or Rogier van der Weyden, the two painters who most influenced the development of style in the Low Countries.

1516 - Died on the 9th of August, he left no followers in the usual sense.
