1928 - Borman was born in Gary, Indiana, on the 14th of March.

1950 - He graduated from the United States Military Academy.

        - Entered the U.S. Air Force and became a fighter pilot.

        - Selected for the U.S.A.F. test pilot school and became a test pilot.

1962 - He was selected for the second NASA astronaut group.

1965 - Commanded Gemini 7 with astronaut Jim Lovell.

1968 - His second flight was as commander of the Apollo 8 mission in December.

       - The Apollo 8 went into lunar orbit and made ten orbits of the Moon.

1970 - Retired from NASA and the Air Force, becoming special advisor to Eastern Air Lines.

1975 - He rose in the ranks of Eastern, becoming CEO in December.

1976 - 1986 - Became chairman of Eastern Air Lines.

1986 - He retired from Eastern.

2006 - Returned to Tucson, Arizona, to reside, and  has been living in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he enjoys rebuilding and flying airplanes from World War II and the Korean era.
