1941 - He was born on the 21st of April in Washington, D.C. He is the son of former US Congressman Lyle Boren and father of current US Congressman for Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district Dan Boren.

1963 - He graduated from Yale University, and was elected President of the Yale Political Union and was a member of Skull and Bones.

1967 - He became member of Oklahoma House of Representatives.

1968 - He received a law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

1975 - He served as governor of Oklahoma.

1979 - He was elected as Senator from Oklahoma.

1987-1993 - He was Chairman of Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Affairs.

1991 - Boren authored the National Security Education Act, which established the National Security Education Program.

1990 - He decided to vote against the Persian Gulf War, surprising most political observers.

1994 - He resigned his Senate seat to accept the presidency of the University of Oklahoma.

1995 - He served as president of University of Oklahoma.
