Borden, Robert Laird, Sir (Robert)
1854 - He was born in Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, on the 26th of June.
1869 - He worked as a teacher in Grand Pré and Matawan, New Jersey.
1874 - Seeing no future in teaching, he returned to Nova Scotia.
1878 - He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in August, placing first in the bar examinations.
1880 - He inducted into the Freemasons.
1882 - Asked by Wallace Graham to move to Halifax and join the Conservative law firm headed by Graham and Charles Hibbert
1889 - He became the senior partner of Conservative law firm.
- On 25th of September, he married Laura Bond.
1893 - Successfully argued the first of two cases, which he took to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
1894 - He bought a large property and home on the south side of Quinpool Road which the couple called "Pinehurst".
1896 - He was President of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society.
- He took the initiative in organizing the founding meetings of the Canadian Bar Association in Montreal.
1901 - He became Leader of the Conservative opposition.
1911-1920 - He became the 8th Prime Minister of Canada and the 3rd Nova Scotian to hold this office.
1920 - He retired from office.
1924-1930 - He became the Chancellor of Queen's University.
1937 - He died in Ottawa on the 10th of June and was buried in the Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario.
