1796 - He was born on the 14th of April in Paris or nearby, Fr.

1803 - Bonneville moved with his family to the United States.

1815 - He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.

1821 - He was assigned to Fort Smith.

1832 - He obtaining and leave from the army in order to explore the West.

         - He gathered a party of 110 men and, from a base on the Green River in present-day Wyoming, attempted mainly to establish himself as a fur trader.

1865 - He eventually attained the rank of brigadier general.

1878 - He died on the 12th of June in Fort Smith, Ark., U.S.
