1857 - Born on February 25th in St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada). Canadian leader of the Liberal Party in Newfoundland and prime minister of the British colony.

1882 - Bond was elected to the Newfoundland House of Assembly.

1884-1889 - He became speaker and colonial secretary in the Liberal ministry.

1900 - As prime minister of the British colony, Bond made major concessions to outside capital to stimulate home economy.

1901 - He was knighted.

1904 - His attempts to settle the fishing rights allowed to France and the United States were overruled by the United Kingdom and, although France gave up the right to use Newfoundland shores.

1908-1909 - He resigned after disagreeing with the British governor over procedure following the deadlocked election.

1910 - The agreement was made between the United States and the imperial government.

1914 - Formed an alliance with a radical fishermen's union, but his influence declined and he retired.

1927 - Died on March 16th in Whitbourne.
