1904 – Born Raymond Wallace Bolger on the 10th of January to an Irish American father, James Edward Bolger, was a house painter, his mother, Anne Wallace, a homemaker. American actor.
1926 – Made his first Broadway stage appearance.
1929 – Married to Gwendolyn Rickard on July 9th.
1930 – He began his career as a dancer, his limber body and ability to ad lib movement won him many starring roles on Broadway.
1935 – Starred in a sitcom called ‘Where’s Raymond?’.
1936 – He signed a contract with MGM.
– Portrayed himself in the film ‘The Great Ziegfeld’.
1939 – He was best known as the Scarecrow in ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
1949 – Won Broadway’s Tony Award as Best Actor (Musical) for "Where’s Charley?".
1953 – He turned to television and got his own sitcom, "Where’s Raymond?", later changed to "The Ray Bolger Show". After his series ended, Bolger made frequent guest appearances on TV and had some small roles in movies.
1962 – He was nominated in the Tony Awards’ Best Actor category for "All American."
1980 – He was elected to the Theatre Hall of Fame.
