1928 Born Enrique José Bolaños Geyer in Masaya, Nicaragua on the 13th of May to Nicolás Bolaños Cortés and Amanda Geyer.
Enrique Bolaños received his primary and secondary education in Nicaragua.
Graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in industrial engineering.
1949 - He married Lila T. Abaúnza and bore five children.
1952 - He began a successful agro-production company, SAIMSA.
1962 - Graduated from Saint Louis University.
1981 - Arrested on 20th of October for having violated censorship laws.
- Imprisoned upon returning from an AIL(Association of Latin American Enterprises) conference in Venezuela.
1982 - He was jailed after sponsoring a conference of potential American investors at his cotton plantation in Masaya.
1983-1988 - Served as president of COSEP (Supreme Council for Private Enterprise).
1996 - Worked as a computer programmer until his election to the vice-presidency.
2002-2007 - Became the President of Nicaragua.
