1941 - Boggs was elected, at age 26, the youngest member of Congress, to the House for the second district.
1942 - Boggs joined the United States Navy as an ensign, serving out the rest of World War II.
1951 - He chaired the Special Committee on Campaign Expenditures.
1961 - He became majority whip and was majority leader of the Democrats when his plane disappeared over Alaska.
1972 - He disappeared while on a campaign flight from Anchorage to Juneau, Alaska on October 16th.
