Bodoni, Giambattista (also Giovanni Battista Bodoni)

Italian printer and typographer

1740 - Giambattista Bodoni was born on the 16th of February in Saluzzo, Piedmont, Italy.

Went to Rome, and became a compositor for the press of the Propaganda.

1768 - Bodoni was appointed printer to the court of Parma.

1813 - He died on 29th of November in Padua, Italy.

1818 - Appeared a two volumes quarto, entitled Manuale Tipografico, containing specimens of the vast collection of types, which had belonged to him.
