1965 – Completed his Sc.D. in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
– Served as an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at MIT.
– Worked in the financial sector as Technical Director of the American Research and Development Corporation.
1983 – Became the President and Chief Operating Officer of Fidelity Investments and a Director of the Fidelity Group of Mutual Funds.
1987 – Served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of Cabot Corporation.
2001-2004 – Served the Bush Administration as the Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
2004-2005 – He served as Deputy Secretary of the Treasury in the George W. Bush Administration.
2004 – On 10th of December, he was nominated to replace Spencer Abraham as the United States Secretary of Energy.
2005 – Served as secretary of Department of Energy.
2007 – In response to the fourth IPCC report on global warming Bodman said "Even if we were successful in accomplishing some kind of debate and discussion about what caps might be here in the United States, we are a small contributor when you look at the rest of the world".
