1827 - Arnold Böcklin was born on the 16th of October.
Studied at Düsseldorf where he became a friend of Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach.
1866 - He resided at Bâle.
1871 - He went to Munich.
1885 - He was in Hottingen (Switzerland) and at the closing stages of his life in Fiesole.
Böcklin is best known for his five versions of The Isle of the Dead.
