1752 – Johann Friedrich Blumenbach was born on the 11th of May at Gotha, Thuringia, Germany.

1775 – Graduated medicine at Jena, with his MD thesis De generis humani varietate nativa.

1776 – Appointed extraordinary professor of medicine in Göttingen.

1778 – Ordinary professor of medicine in Göttingen.

1787-1804 – Wrote Institutiones Physiologicae, and Handbuch der vergleichenden Anatomie.

1790-1828 – Blumenbach’s work included his description of sixty humans crania (skulls) published originally in fasciculi as Collectionis suae craniorum diversarum gentium illustratae decades.

1840 – Blumenbach died on 22nd of January in Göttingen.
