1966 - Blumenauer graduated from Centennial High School.

 

1970 - Received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis & Clark College.

 

1973-1978 - Served as an Oregon state representative.

 

1976 - He received a Juris Doctor degree from the same college.

 

Worked as an assistant to the president of Portland State University.

 

1986-1996 - Portland city commissioner.

 

1990-1991 - Appointed by Oregon's governor to the commission on higher education.

 

1992 - Blumenauer was defeated by Vera Katz in an open race for mayor of Portland.

 

1996 - Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in a special election.
