Bloch, Felix
1905 - Born on the 23rd of Octber in Zurich, Switzerland.
1924 - Finished high school at Gymnasium, Canton of Zurich.
1927 - Graduated at Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland.
1928 - Took up PhD, at University of Leipzig.
1933 - Served as Professor at Stanford University.
1934 - He left Germany, emigrating to work at Stanford University.
1939 - Became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
- He worked on atomic energy at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
- He concentrated on investigations into nuclear induction and nuclear magnetic resonance.
- With Edward Purcell, co-discovered nuclear magnetic resonance.
1952 - Awarded the Nobel Prize for "development of new ways and methods for nuclear magnetic precision measurements."
1954-1955 - Served for one year as the first Director-General of CERN.
1961 - He was made Max Stein Professor of Physics at Stanford University.
1965 - President of American Physical Society.
1983 - Died on 10th of September in Zurich, Switzerland.
