1941 - Selected as the first dean of Cornell University's College of Home Economics and became the first female dean.
1946 - Became the president of Vassar College.
1949 - She helped establish the Mary Conover Mellon Foundation for the Advancement of Education.
1964 - Retired to her post as Vassar president.
1985 - Blanding died on 3rd of March.
