1842 - William Perkins Black was born on the 11th of November. American lawyer and civil war veteran.

         - He served as a Captain in the Union Army in Company K, 37th Illinois Infantry.

1862 - Awarded America's highest military decoration the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas on March 7th.

1886 - Chief defense lawyer for all eight defendants in Haymarket Affair trial.

1916 - Black died on 3rd of January at the age of 74.
