Bizimungu, Pasteur (Pasteur)
1950 - Pasteur Bizimungu was born in the Gisenyi prefecture of Rwanda.
1990 - He joined the primarily Tutsi Rwandese Patriotic Front.
1994 - He served as President of Rwanda.
2000 - He resigned in dispute with parliament over prosecution of government officials for corruption.
2001 - Bizimungu founded an opposition movement, the Party for Democracy and Renewal (PDR).
2002 - He was placed under house arrest for continuing the operations of the party and charged with endangering the state.
2004 - He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to form a militia, inciting violence and embezzlement.
2006 - He appealed on the fact that he was convicted of crimes but the Supreme Court denied him.
