1958 - She received her undergraduate degree from Long Island University.
1965 - She finished her law degree from Boalt Hall.
1975-1977 - She served as California Secretary of Agriculture. (1st female state-level cabinet member in California)
1977-1984 - She became the 25th Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court. (1st female justice)
1987 - She appeared as a judge on a television program called Superior Court.
1999 - Bird died on the 4th of December because of breast cancer at the age of 63.
