1831 - Born on the 16th of August in Honolulu.

 

Enrolled at Williston Seminary in Easthampton, Massachusetts.

 

1853 - He was graduated from Yale University.

 

1856 - Ordained a Congregationalist minister in New Haven, Connecticut on 9th of November.

 

         - Bingham married Clara Brewster in Northhampton, Massachusetts.

 

1857-1864 - Missionary to Gilbert Islands. (Now Kiribati)

 

1865 - Returned to the United States.

 

1873-1875 - Missionary to Gilbert Islands.

 

1877-1880 - Served as Secretary of the Hawaiian Board.

 

1895 - Yale University awarded him the Doctorate of Divinity.

 

1908 - He died on 25th of October in Baltimore, Maryland.

 

Bingham was the first to translate the Bible into Gilbertese.
