1938 – Louis Marie Cardinal Billé was born on the 18th of February.

       – Billé studied Catholic Theology and Philosophy, specializing in Biblical Theology.

1962 – On 25th of March, he was ordained priest for the diocese of Lucon.

1966-1972 – Worked as a lecturer at the priests’ seminary in Lucon.

1972-1977 – Lecturer at the seminary of La Roche-sur-Yon.

1984-1995 – Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Laval on 10th of May.

1995-1998 – Served as Catholic archbishop of Aix.

1998 – Became Archbishop of Lyon on 10th of July.

2001 – Appointed to the College of Cardinals with the title of Cardinal Priest of San Pietro in Vincoli.

       – Given the title of Santissima Trinità al Monte Pincio.

2002 – He died in Bordeaux on 12th of March after a serious illness and was entombed in Lyon cathedral.

        – Philippe Cardinal Barbarin succeeded him as Archbishop of Lyon.
