Bigler, William
1814 - Born at Shiremanstown, Pennsylvania, USA on the 11th of January. He is the brother of John Bigler.
- Took informal studies under his elder brother John Bigler publisher of the Centre County Democrat newspaper.
1829 - He was apprenticed to the printing trade.
1833 - Bigler founded his own political newspaper, the Clearfield Democrat.
- Moved to Clearfield, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
1841-1847 - Established the Clearfield Democrat; engaged in the lumber business and was a member, State senate.
1851 - Defeated by incumbent Governor William F. Johnston for the governor's seat.
1852-1855 - Served as Governor of Pennsylvania.
1856-1861 - He served in the United States Senate.
1873 - Member of the constitutional convention of Pennsylvania,
1880 - He died at Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA on 9th of August.
