Biddle, William Phillips (William)
1853 - He was born on the 15th of December in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- He was educated at the University of Pennsylvania.
1875 - Biddle was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps.
1882 - He returned to sea duty on the Kearsarge in March.
1884 - He was promoted to first lieutenant.
1891 - He returned to Philadelphia for duty in February.
1894 - He promoted to captain.
1895 - He resumed sea duty on board the Baltimore.
1900 - With the battalion, he arrived in China in time to take part in the famous relief expedition to Peking.
- Capt. Biddle was transferred with his battalion to the First Brigade of Marines, Philippine Islands.
1903 - He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on the 23rd of March.
- In December, he was sent to Panama in command of the battalion of Marines on the Dixie.
1905 - Lieutenant Colonel Biddle was promoted to colonel in February.
1906 - He returned to the Philippine Islands where he commanded the First Brigade of Marines.
1910 - He returned to Headquarters where he continued to serve the remainder of his active duty.
1911 - He became the Major General Commandant of the Marine Corps on the 3rd of February.
1914 - He was retired on the 24th of February.
1923 - Major General Biddle died in Nice, France, on the 25th of February and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
