1654 - He was born on the 27th of December in Basel, Switzerland.

         - He studied theology and entered the ministry and also studied mathematics and astronomy.

1676 - He traveled throughout Europe to learned latest discoveries in mathematics and the sciences.

1682 - He returned to Basel and he founded a school for mathematics and the sciences.

1687 - He was appointed professor of mathematics at the University of Basel

1690 - He became the first person to develop the technique for solving separable differential equations.

1705 - He died on the 16th of August in Basel, Switzerland.
