1977 - Started as a stand-up comedian in Chicago's Cotton Club.
1980 - Won the Miller Lite Comedy Search which point his popularity as a comedian.
1995 - Received his big break as Pastor Clever in Ice Cube's film Friday.
1997 - Continued stand-up comedy roots, touring the country as one of the Kings of Comedy,with Steve Harvey.
Appeared on a television show including Booty Call, How to Be a Player, Life and What's the Worst That Could Happen?.
2001 - Became the new Bosley for the Charlie's Angels sequel Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.
- Starred in television series "The Bernie Mac Show" as Bernie.
2003 - Did an impressive performance in a small but important role as "The Store Dick" in Bad Santa.
2005 - He revealed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a tissue inflammation disease, since 1983.
