1911 - He was born on the 29th of June in Jena, Germany.
1916 - Prince of Lippe, Leopold IV, gave Bernhard the title of "Prince of Lippe-Biesterfeld".

1929 - He graduated from gymnasium in Berlin.
- He studied law at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and in Berlin.
1935 - He became Secretary to the Board of Directors at the Paris office.
1938 - He suffered a broken neck and crushed ribs in a car crash.
1940 - Prince Bernhard flew over occupied Europe in a B-24 bomber attacking V-1 launch pads.
1941 - He was given the honorary rank of wing commander in the Royal Air Force.

1942 - Bernhard flew as a pilot with the Royal Air Force.
1944 - He became commander of the Dutch armed forces.
- After the war, he became Inspector General.

1976 - On 26th of August a devastating, report on Prince Bernhard's activities was released to a shockedDutch public.
- He resigned as Inspector-General of the Dutch armed forces.
1988 - He and Princess Juliana sold two paintings for the World Wildlife Fund.
1989 - Charles de Haes, director-general of the WWF, transferred GBP500 000 back to Bernhard.
1991 - Prince Bernhard had hired mercenaries mostly British to fight against poachers in nature reserves.
2002 - He made controversy when he paid the fines of two Albert Heijn supermarket staff members.
2004 - Prince Bernhard died of cancer at Utrecht hospital on the 1st December.
