1860 - Born on the 28th of February in Nieder Rehbach, Austria-Hungary.
1892-1911 - Published and edited the German language Wisconsin Vorwaerts.
1896 - He was a Delegate to the People's Party Convention in St. Louis.
1897 - With Eugene V. Debs, they co-founded Social Democratic Party of America.
1911-1913 - He was 1st socialist elected to Congress and Representative from Wisconsin.
1923-1929 - Once again he served as Representative from Wisconsin.
1928 - He returned to Milwaukee and resumed his career as a newspaper editor.
1929 - He died on the 7th of August by a streetcar accident and was buried at Forest Home Cemetery.
