Bentinck, Lord William Henry Cavendish(William)
1774 - He was born on the 14th of September.
1791 - He joined the Coldstream Guards, rising to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
1803 - He was appointed Governor of Madras.
1814-1815 - He landed with British and Sicilian troops at Genoa, and commenced to make liberal proclamations of a new order in Italy which embarrassed the British government.
1827 - On his return to England, he served in the House of Commons for some years before being appointed Governor-General of India.
1828 - He was governorgeneral of British East India Co.
1835 - He returned to the UK, refusing a peerage, and again entered the House of Commons as a Member for Glasgow.
1839 - He died on the 17th of June.
