1926 - Born on the 3rd of August in New York City.

1950 - Pearl Bailey heard him sing, and asked him to join her at a Greenwich Village night club.

1955 - Released his first long-playing album, Cloud 7, which showed Bennett's jazz leanings.

1957 - Ralph Sharon became Bennett's pianist and musical director.

1962 - Won the Grammy Award for I Left My Heart in San Francisco (male vocal/best record)

1994 - Grammy Award for MTV Unplugged (best record/traditional pop vocal).

1996 - Emmy award winner for Tony Bennett Live by Request: A Valentine Special.

1997 - Awarded by Grammy for traditional performance, Tony Bennett on Holiday.

       - Received a Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame.

1998 - Published The Good Life: The Autobiography of Tony Bennett.

2002 - Received a lifetime achievement award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).

        - Q magazine named Tony Bennett in their list of the "50 Bands To See Before You Die".

2005 - On 4th of December, he was the recipient of a Kennedy Center Honor.

2006 - He was a NEA Jazz Master.
