1854 - Born at Pegli, a suburb of Genoa, Italy on the 21st of November.

1875 - He acquired a doctorate of law, after which he studied for the priesthood and then the training school for the Vatican diplomatic service

1907 - He was soon moved out of the diplomatic service, on the 18th of December becoming Archbishop of Bologna.

1917 - His best known intervention was the seven-point Papal Peace proposal of August, demanding a cessation of hostilities, a reduction of armaments, guaranteed freedom of the seas, and international arbitration.

         - Benedict XV also promulgated a new Code of Canon Law and attempted to improve relations with the anticlerical Republican government of France.

1922 - Died on the 22nd of January of the illness.
