Beltrami, Eugenio
1835 - Born on the 16th of November in Cremona in Lombardy now part of Italy.
1853 - Studied mathematics at University of Pavia.
1856 - Forced to discontinue his studies because of financial hardship.
1862 - Appointed to the University of Bologna as a professor and he published his first paper.
- Beltrami later taught at universities in Pisa, Rome and Pavia.
1868 - Beltrami gave the first model of hyperbolic geometry.
- Proved that non-Euclidean geometry describes geometry on surfaces of constant curvature.
1900 - Died on 18th of February in Rome.
