1952 - Born on the 9th of January in Lodz, Poland.
1972 - Graduated from the Socio-Economic Department of the University of £ódŸ.
Studied on scholarships at Columbia University, University of Chicago and London School of Economics.
1990-1996 - Worked as consultant for the Polish Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
1997 - Served as deputy prime minister and minister of finance.
2001-2002 - Economic consultant of the president of Poland in the meantime.
2003 - He was responsible for economic policy in the interim coalition administration of Iraq.
2004-2005 - He served as Prime minister of Poland.
2005 - Candidate for the post of OECD Secretary General but lost to José Ángel Gurría.
- Belka joined the new liberal Democratic Party in May.
