1952 – Born on the 9th of January in Lodz, Poland.
1972 – Graduated from the Socio-Economic Department of the University of £ódŸ.
Studied on scholarships at Columbia University, University of Chicago and London School of Economics.
1990-1996 – Worked as consultant for the Polish Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
1997 – Served as deputy prime minister and minister of finance.
2001-2002 – Economic consultant of the president of Poland in the meantime.
2003 – He was responsible for economic policy in the interim coalition administration of Iraq.
2004-2005 – He served as Prime minister of Poland.
2005 – Candidate for the post of OECD Secretary General but lost to José Ángel Gurría.
