1945 - Appeared in the Broadway production of Deep Are The Roots, winning a New York Drama Critics Award for best actress.


1946 - Signed a contract with RKO Studios.


1947 - Bel Geddes's film debut was opposite Henry Fonda in The Long Night.


1948 - Nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her work in the drama I Remember Mama.


         - She appeared in two more films at the studio - Blood On The Moon.


1949 - Starred in the movie Caught.


1950-1951 - Panic In The Streets (1950) and Fourteen Hours (1951) with Richard Basehart.


1958 - She returned to Hollywood to appear in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo.


1959 - Appeared for The Five Pennie, she starred opposite Danny Kaye in the bio-pic of coronet player

Red Nichols.


1966 - Retired from acting to tend to her husband, Windsor Lewis, who was fighting cancer.


1978 - Returned to acting as the matriarch of the rowdy Ewing family on the primetime soap opera Dallas.


1980 - Best Lead Actress In A Drama Series Emmy Award.  


2005 - Passed away in Northeast Harbor, Maine on 8th of August.
