1690 - Johann Conrad Beissel was born on April in Eberbach in Germany.

1720 - He was immigrated to America.

1728 - He published a tract on his conviction that Saturday was the true Sabbath.

         - With his followers he established at Ephrata a semimonastic religious community that became well known in colonial times.

1732 - Founded the Ephrata Cloisters religious community in Pennsylvania.

         - He served as the community's composer as well as spiritual leader.

1768 - Died on the 6th of July.
