1879 – Gifford Beal is a painter, etcher, muralist, teacher, was born in New York City.

Educated at Princeton University and was among many artists who trained with the renowned American
Impressionist painter William Merritt Chase.
1939 – Completed a series of ten murals for the Post Office in Allentown, one of many such projects commissioned under the WPA.
