1814 - James Roosevelt Bayley was born in Rye, New York, on 23rd of August.
1842 - Bayley had been an Episcopal priest prior to his conversion.
1844 - Attended St. John's College, Fordham, for his seminary studies and was ordained on 2nd of March in New York.
1853-1872 - Consecrated the First Bishop of the Diocese of Newark.
1856 - Bishop Bayley founded the Seton Hall University.
1872-1877 - Appointed Archbishop of Baltimore.
1877 - Bayley died 3rd of October in Newark, New Jersey.
First Bishop of Newark, New Jersey; eighth Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Spoke of him by saying, "I am Archbishop; I have been Bishop; but I like Father Bayley best of all."
