1572 – Johann Bayer was born in Rain, Bavaria Germany.
1592- Began his study of philosophy in Ingolstadt.
Grew interested in astronomy during his time in Augsburg.
1603 – Published his most famous star atlas Uranometria.
1612 – Became legal advisor to the Augsburg city council.
Introduced a new system of star designation, which has become known as the Bayer designation.
1625 – Johann Bayer died 7th of March.
The Bayer crater on the Moon is named after him.
