1930 - Baudouin I was born 7th of September in Kasteel Stuyvenberg, Laeken in Belgium.
1940 - His decision to surrender to Nazi Germany during World War II causing controversy in his loyalty.
1941 - Married Mary Lilian Baels, an English-born Belgian commoner.
1951-1993 - Ascended the throne when his father King Leopold III abdicated on 16th of July.
1990 - Belgium's abortion laws was approved by Parliament, he refused to give Royal Assent.
1993 - Died due to heart failure on 31st of in the Villa Astrida in Motril, in the south of Spain.
- His death was very unexpected, and sent much of Belgium into a period of deep mourning.
Baudouin was succeeded by his younger brother, who became King Albert II.
