1916 - Giorgio Bassani is a Italian author was born 4th of March in Bologna.
- Studied at the University of Bologna with the art historian Roberto Longhi, and privately with the historian and philosopher Benedetto Croce.
1940 - Wrote short story collection "Una Citta di Rianura" under pseudonym Giacomo Marchi.
1943 - He took part in the anti-Fascist Resistance.
1944 - Arrested in Ferrara in May and was released in July.
1948-1960 - Moved to Rome and there edited the literary review Botteghe oscure for Princess Caetani.
- Bassani was also an editor of Paragone, a journal founded by Longhi and his wife Anna Band.
1962 - He wrote his novel "The Garden of the Finzi-Continis" (also "Il giardino dei Fitzi-Contini").
2000 - Giorgio Bassani died on the 13th of April.
