1948 - Mikhail Nikolaevitch Baryshnikov was born 28th of January in Riga, Latvia.
1963 - He applied to the famous Vaganova Ballet Academy.
1966 - Joined Leningrad's Kirov Ballet.
- Won the very prestigious gold medal at the Varna, Bulgaria and International ballet competition.
- He became the youngest dancer to receive the State Award for Merit of the U.S.S.R.
1969 - Created roles in Vestris in which he portrayed Auguste Vestris.
1971 - Baryshnikov made the Creation of the World.
1974-1979 - He was principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre (ABT), where he partnered with Gelsey
Kirkland.
1990-2002 - Baryshnikov was artistic director of the White Oak Dance Project, a touring company he co-
founded with Mark Morris.
2000 - Baryshnikov was a recipient of Kennedy Center Honors.
He is actively involved in the establishment of the Baryshnikov Arts Center in a new performing arts complex in New York City.
