1834 - Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi is a French sculptor was born 2nd of August in Colmar.

 

         - The face of the Statue of Liberty is said to be that of Bartholdi's mother.

 

1879 - Bartholdi was awarded design patent U.S. Patent D11,023 for the Statue of Liberty.

 

1904 - Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi died 4th of October.

 

He studied architecture in Colmar and then went to Paris to further his studies in architecture as well as painting.

 

Bartholdi most famous work is the Statue of Liberty and personally select New York Harbor as the site for the statue.
