1814-1816 – Barry was elected as U.S. Senator from Kentucky.


1817-1821 – Became the member of the Kentucky Senate.


1820-1824 – Barry served as Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky.


1828 – He became the candidate for Governor of Kentucky.


1829-1835 – Barry was the U.S. Postmaster General in Andrew Jackson’s administration.


1835 – Barry was appointed Minister to Spain.
