1922 – Robert Hilliard Barrow was born 5th of February.

1942 – Barrow joined the Marine Corps.

       – Attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

1943 – He was selected to attend Officer Candidate School.

       – Served with the Sino-American Cooperative Organization.

1950 – Commanded Company A, 1st Battalion 1st Marines in the Inchon-Seoul.

       – Served as Commanding Officer, 9th Marines, 3d Marine Division (Rein), and as Deputy G-3, III Marine Amphibious Force. 

1979-1983 – He was the 27th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps (USMC).

Received the Army Distinguished Service Cross for his heroism in Operation Dewey Canyon.

Barrow was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat.
